The architectural and park complex “Palace” is part of the hundred national historical sites in our country. Nestled between three steep shores, near the white ancient town of Balchik, this enchanting place has been pleasing our and foreign guests for years.
In the distant 1924, the small piece of Bulgarian land captured even the Romanian Queen Maria of Edinburgh, who decided to build her summer residence right here. The construction lasted for 11 years, during which time on the territory of the complex were built many villas in different styles, chapels, parks, waterfalls and beautiful gardens. The only condition the queen had was not to disturb the natural splendor of the area.
Today, guests can enjoy the beautiful nature, the amazing buildings in different styles, as well as the flower gardens and alleys. One of the most impressive buildings is the palace of Queen Mary, built in oriental style.Designed by Italian architects, the Palace is part of a complex that includes several villas, a wine cellar, a monastery, a chapel and several other buildings. The buildings in the complex feature architectural elements inspired by different cultures and religions, including a minaret, a Christian chapel, Thracian, Greek and Roman symbols, and a combination of Bulgarian, Gothic and Islamic design. The palace rooms, open to the public, feature original furniture, as well as some local ancient artifacts and photographs of Queen Mary.

The University Botanical Garden is located about 2 km from the picturesque town of Balchik and is part of the Architectural and Park Complex “Palace”, a cultural monument of national importance. The garden was established in 1955 and is a unit of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridki It was made under the leadership of Academician Prof. Daki Yordanov, who at that time was rector of the university.
Today, the Botanical Garden in Balchik is part of a hundred national tourist sites and for many years attracts the attention of local and foreign tourists. It covers an area of 194 decares and has a rich variety of plant species, where you can see rare plant species, seasonal flower arrangements, as well as a permanent arrangement of beautiful corners.
The collection of cacti and succulents is the second largest in the world, after that in Monaco.The garden is divided into several parts – a park, a garden designed for people with disabilities and a protected area that is often a place for research and scientific activity. Each part has its own unique and special beauty.
The town of Balchik is located on the Black Sea coast, 31 km north of Varna. It has a beautiful beach and many natural and historical attractions. A few kilometers north of the resort there are incredible secluded beaches. In the town itself are isolated various places for rest and relaxation – hotels, villas and guest houses.
